An excellent review for Mascagni’s « Iris », a rare pearl of opera, given in concert version by Domingo Hindoyan for the closing concert at the Festival de Radio France in Montpellier (France) on 16th & 18th of July.
Domingo Hindoyan conducts with love: he inflames, galvanizes, but also knows how to obtain very fine chamber-music colours. His attention to everyone, to the singing first, is constant and he translates the score’s free flow, its progress, quick tempers and majesty with art. His gesture is both elegant and effective; the singing is neatly carved and the overtones always just right. Yvan Beuvard, Forumopera
