Murat Cem Orhan graduated from the Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory in Izmir and the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College in New York where he studied Opera Singing and Conducting.
He attended conducting masterclasses under Maestro Jorma Panula in Poland, Maestro Alparslan Ertungealp in Budapest, Maestro Michel Tabachnik at Accademia Chigiana Musicale and Maestro Rengim Gökmen in Izmir.
In 2016, he conducted the Turkish Premiere of Fazıl Say’s East-West Divan Song Cycle (Op.44) and The Gezi Park 3 Ballad (Op. 54) with the Camerata Saygun
Chamber Orchestra and Fazıl Say at the piano. Last year he made his German debut with the Heidelberg Sinfonietta and was acclaimed by audiences and critics with Fazıl Say’s orchestral work at the Heidelberg Spring Festival. He also conducted his own arrangement for children of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Istanbul State Opera House.
He has performed Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte and Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto with the Istanbul University State Conservatory Orchestra and its soloists.
Forthcoming engagements include Brahms’ Double Concerto with the Antalya State Symphony Orchestra and Mahler’s Das Knaben Wunderhorn with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his conducting career he was twice First Prize winner of the N.F.Eczacibasi National Composing Competition. His compositions are played by Turkish symphony orchestras.
